This is a place to talk about law, privacy, surveillance, ethics, movies, books – with zombies. The shambling dead are always fun to watch or read about, and I like them even more when I look at them through a privacy and surveillance lens.  And that’s the lens I’ll use here, as I add in my two cents to zombie culture. It’s also the lens that I’m using for my first novel, which is a topic for another post. 🙂

Many of the zombie movies, TV shows, and books have a lot to say about politics and culture. So a blog like mine will hopefully add to that conversation.  Can privacy and laws exist in a zombie-filled world? What about ethics? What does society look like during and after a zombie apocalypes?  We see one vision for that world via The Walking Dead, and a different one for World War Z, and yet another for the George Romero zombie universe.  Countless others exist too.  Let’s explore those!

Interspered with recaps and reviews of The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead, I’ll have posts on civil liberties issues, primarily privacy, and the Fourth and Fifth Amendments.  Stray topics like goth and steampunk culture may find their way here once in awhile, because I’m interested in it.

I don’t think we’ve reached peak zombie yet. Zombies are everywhere, so much so that if you ask random people what they’ll do if we have a zombie apocalypse, most people will have an answer.  The Walking Dead looks like it’s going to go on for awhile, and Fear the Walking Dead is barely getting started. World War Z was a great book, and a hit movie came of that book.  I think a sequel is planned.

So yeah, let’s talk civil liberties – with zombies.
