Sunrise over the beach where we see a walker in a shallow pool of ocean water. We can’t see them, but two women are talking on said beach, and one of them sees the walker in the water. The girl (maybe 11 years old) has a spear and kills the walker. She sees another walker and runs towards it with her spear. The woman tells her not to run, but she not only runs, she jumps over some tree limbs. She gets ready to kill the walker at the ocean’s edge, but the woman tells the girl to wait, what they think is a dead body, isn’t. It’s Tara and she’s not dead. The girl is ready to kill Tara. The woman and the girl argue about killing Tara, the girl says yes, the woman says no. The woman asks if the girl’s going to tell. She says she’s not a snitch, but she’s not going to help the woman with Tara.
The woman drags Tara out of the water and onto drier sand.

Heath and Tara are in a camper on their supply run from ages ago. Tara says they just have to find stuff. Heath tells her there’s nothing out there to be found. Tara says they need ammo and medicine. Heath is really bummed at killing the Saviors at the substation. Tara said they had to kill those people, but Heath begs to differ. Heath doesn’t like the ‘us v them’ attitude, and that no one’s ‘in it together’. Tara isn’t buying what he said. Heath says everyone who wants to stay alive does what they did. He wants to just go back to Alexandria, and not do this anymore.
The woman from the beach is lying on a bed in a house somewhere looking at a map of the Alexandria area. She’s probably trying to figure out where Tara could have come from. We next see the woman with a gun aimed at Tara, who’s still lying on the beach, unconscious. The woman places two bottles of water next to Tara’s head . She also leaves a bundle of food and her spear. Tara opens her eyes and sees the water bottles. She sits up and burrows under the driftwood to better hide. She sees the woman but hides. She drinks deeply from the first bottle. Tara watches the woman as she reaches for the bundle of food. It’s a fish. Eww. She wants to call out to the woman, but doesn’t.
In the woods, Tara is following the woman, spear in hand. Tara spies a house and hears and sees, two women as they go into the house. She hides as she sees a group of kids come out of another house. She sees a community of people here, women with guns, and they’re all making things at tables outside – very much like Lost. In fact, it’s all women and girls. Then the gates open – all of the women and girls scurry back inside the houses. A woman shoots at Tara, sniping, really. Tara runs away from the settlement, but is chased. She stops one of the women, and takes her gun. She has an opportunity to kill the woman, but doesn’t. The woman says ‘go ahead’, but Tara only knocks her out. The girl, Rachel, gets ready to kill Tara, but the other woman stops her from doing so. By now, Tara is completely surrounded by women with guns. Tara tries to talk Rachel, and the woman from the beach, Cindy, out of all of them holding Tara, but none of them are having any part of it. The older woman stares her down and guns are still aimed at her, and they’re all in a stand-off kind of position. Tara says ‘okay, this is cool too.’ Ha.
Again we see Heath and Tara and their camper. They climb on top of some containers, and see an empty car, and what might have been a camp by a bridge. Heath throws a bottle to make noise and when they hear nothing, they go in. There are dying plants in a pot. Tents are empty. They continue to search. There’s a camper with an open door, but it also appears empty. They go through the tarps, and see some overturned dump trucks. It really does look like a permanent camp of some kind.
Oh no, Tara pulls on a bag buried in the cement pile, and it causes the cement to spill, unleashing a ton of dusty walkers. I like them!! They’re all stuck in the cement, and now have to battle the cement covered walkers. Heath leaves Tara alone to battle the walkers.
Tara is sitting alone, and looking at a drawing of what looks like a planned community. The older woman, comes in to interrogate Tara. Cathy, Beatrice, and Natania. They want to know where Tara is from. She says she’s from Atlanta and says she was traveling with someone but they got separated.
Tara says they found a settlement on the bridge and that’s when they got separated. Tara just wants to leave this community, but Natania isn’t wild about that idea. She says normally they just shoot people on sight, but since Tara doesn’t seem evil they didn’t do that in her case. The women leave, and Tara remains cuffed to the water heater and locked inside the room.
Night time and one of the women takes Tara outside, but she’s still cuffed. They go to another house where the room is lit with candles. Dinner is served, and Cindy and Tara are formally introduced. Cindy says she’s a good shot when they discuss whether or not they’ve killed people.
At dinner Tara scarfs down her food. Natania hopes that Tara will stay with them – it will solve a lot of problems. Tara is surprised, and Natania says it could be a good solution. Tara wonders where the men are. Natania says they’re all dead. They got into a skirmish with another group and that’s what happened. They left their old home, and came to this place. They would shoot people on sight, and be safe. She wants Tara to stay – and to be honest with them. They bust Tara about her fishing boat story (a ‘larder’ is not a kind of boat). Tara considers telling her about Alexandria, and so does, although without saying ‘Alexandria’. She discusses the satellite station and how they killed everyone.
Tara proposes that the two groups work together – this group and the Alexandrians. The older woman proposes sending a guide with Tara to find her friend and see Alexandria. Tara is optimistic about the two groups working together.
Ah, it’s the Oceanside Cabin Motor Lodge, that’s why there are so many houses there. It’s like a camping resort. Tara goes to leave with the two women and says ‘see you later Rachel’, and then flips her off. The women leave and pass by a bell. Tara apologizes to Beatrice about hitting her. They are going to the beach when they hear a walker. Beatrice pulls a knife but Tara says she has it. She goes to stab the walker, but then runs off, leaving the two other women alone. Long chase scene. Tara falls down into a ravine but it’s a great place to hide. She has her knife at the ready, but the two women go past her. Tara hears a noise, it’s one of the women and they fight. The woman gets the upper hand and aims her gun at Tara. The woman explains that the Saviors took out all of the Alexandrians. There’s nothing left for Tara there. Tara puts two and two together and realizes that the Saviors took out all of Oceanside’s men. The woman confirms that any man over the age of 10 was killed. The women were supposed to keep working for the Saviors, but then they just decided to leave, and they did. Cindy comes by and knocks over the woman and tells Tara to run. She does.
Cindy catches up to her and aims a gun at Tara. Tara is severely winded. Cindy says you have to swear that you’ll never come back, and you’ll never tell anyone about their place. Tara wonders why she would tell. Cindy questions why you killed people, you felt you had to, but no one is evil. You just forget who they are. Tara says some people really are evil. Tara swears she won’t tell anyone about them. Cindy gives Tara a pack of food and some water and says she’ll take her to the bridge.
Back on the bridge, our dusty cement-covered walkers are still milling around. Tara realizes she has to run through the group of walkers in order to get through to the other side, and back to Alexandria. They strategize about what to do. Cindy says that Cathy and Beatrice are coming so let’s get this done. Tara asks why Cindy isn’t like the rest of them, and Cindy asks ‘why aren’t you?’ They bump fists and then they hide from the walkers to that Tara can make her escape.
Walkers see them and head their way. Many, many of them. Tara runs from the top of a car to another top of a car, as does Cindy. It’s not clear how Tara is going to make it out. Tara stabs and Cindy snipes, and Tara makes progress. Cindy runs out of ammo, Tara keeps going.
Tara flashes on the original fight with the cement walkers. Turns out Heath came back and saved Tara, or at least came back to assist her. Tara tried to go to help Heath, but she was otherwise occupied with fighting walkers. Tara yelled to Heath that both of them are ‘in this together’. Heath yelled back ‘I know’, and that’s when Tara fell over the side of the bridge. It’s not clear what happened to Heath. Back to the present, Tara stops to watch the walkers, and sees a walker who looks like Heath from the back. But it’s a fake out, its a woman with Heath-like hair. Tara sees that Cathy and Beatrice have reached Cindy and have taken her away.
Then Tara spies Heath’s glasses on the ground and tire tracks of some kind. She’s hoping he got away. She picks up a card that says PPP on it. She says ‘I hope that was you’.
Tara scavenges an old boat that crashed by the side of the road. She hears a walker and leaves, grabbing her spear. She walks by an abandoned drug store and sees walkers in the reflections of the glass and so beats a hasty retreat inside. It appears empty (how convenient), and she pulls out the dried perch to eat (thanks, Cindy). It looks gross and she doesn’t seem to enjoy it, but she eats it. She pulls out a shell bracelet from Cindy, and smiles. She also picks up a bobblehead for Denise (sniff). Next morning she has on a pair of plastic sunglasses and walks jauntily down the road.
At the safe zone Eugene stands on the platform on watches Tara approach. He lets her in and even though we don’t hear any dialogue, we know that Eugene has told her about Abraham and Glenn. Tara looks heart broken. Next scene Tara is sitting on the floor in the apothecary with Rosita standing in the corner. Rosita says she’s sorry, so she must have told Tara about Denise.
Rosita wants to know if Tara found any place where they can go. Rosita wants revenge against the Saviors. Tara keeps her promise and doesn’t rat out the Oceanside village.
