80. The Same Boat, Season Six, Episode Thirteen. Original Air Date = March 13, 2016

It’s night, the horn is blowing from the episode before. A walker is killed by Carol, who tells Maggie, ‘you’re staying here.’ Maggie wants to kill the wounded guy on the ground first. Then they’re ambushed. Instead of Maggie paying attention to Carol, two women ambush them. They have guns. The horn is still blowing in the night.

We see the morning scene of Rick and everyone killing Saviors. The women have Maggie and Carol with them. They tell Rick to lower their weapons, as we saw before, just a different point of view.

The woman says they’re going to work it out and it’s going to go our way. Rick wants to know that Maggie and Carol okay, the women say they’re okay.   The woman is named Paula.

Rick says they know they’re talking it over, come on out, and let’s make the trade.

The women cover Carol and Maggie’s heads with cloth as we hear a walker come by. The woman says  ‘we’ll get back to you’.

Walking with their heads covered, then driving, the women are trying to make a plan. A squeaky door is being opened, and they all walk in. They kill a few walkers. Carol and Maggie are ordered onto the ground, apart from each other. They’re bound with duct tape and have gags in their mouths.

Paula tells them to try something so she can kill them, and then she leaves.  Of course, Maggie starts something right away, as does Carol. They are trying to unbind the duct tape. The fighting stops and they resume their bound positions.  Carol looks really rattled and is hyperventilating.

Not sure if Donnie is bitten but he’s wounded, somewhat seriously.

Molls takes off Carol’s gag. She finds the rosary that got left behind when they dragged a walker out of the room. Everyone looks bewildered. Why is Carol so afraid, they’re wondering. Paula asks if Carol is afraid to die.

Carol finally says she doesn’t care what happens to her, just don’t hurt Maggie. Maggie confesses she’s two months pregnant.

Paula mocks her. Maggie says she’s choosing something by being pregnant, she didn’t just get knocked up. Molls smokes and coughs, and Carol asks her not to smoke because of the baby. Carol is mocked too.  But Chelle tells Molls to stop smoking.

Donnie is complaining about the circulation in his arm – it’s really hurting. Maggie says he needs medical care quickly. Donnie starts to menace Carol. He blames her for his wound. Donnie whacks Paula. He grabs Maggie, Maggie head butts him. He kicks Carol hard enough to lay her out flat.

Chell takes Maggie out of the room. Paula and Carol are left alone in the room.

Chelle wants to know where Maggie and co live. Maggie throws up. Chelle tells Maggie ‘you aren’t the good guys, you should know that.’

Carol thanks her captors for not hurting them. She’s going into domestic abuse survival mode, but how much of her ‘act’ is an act? A ruse? And how much is real?

Maggie and Chelle. Chell is missing a finger. Maggie asks what happened. Chelle says she stole gas. She says Frank was her dad. Maggie says she’s sorry. Chell doesn’t believe that Maggie is sorry. They both say they aren’t planning on dying today.  Chell wants to know where Maggie lives. Her hand is on the gun.

Rick is back on the line, negotiating. Paula says ‘you weren’t listening, I said I’d call you.’ They negotiate some more, but Paula is coy.  Carol cries and says Paula’s people ambushed her people. They didn’t want to kill them. Then Paula brings up the guys who Daryl blew up. What happened there? Carol has no good comeback for that. Carol says they’re afraid of Negan.

Then Molls tells Carol that they are all Negan. Carol asks ‘what does that mean?’

Donnie is on the ground, looking kind of dead. Carol asks for a cigarette. Paula comments that Carol is weak and that Carol can’t stick to her own principles.  Paula says she was a secretary. She didn’t like her job, or her boss. She hated the inspirational emails. The one she remembers is about three pots of water, a carrot in one, an egg in the other, and coffee beans in the last pot.  The carrot gets soft, the egg gets hard, and the beans transform the water. We’re supposed to want to be the beans. Paula is still unamused.

Paula was at work in DC when the apocalypse happened. She had to stay at work because they had to evacuate the important people first – Congress, etc.  Because of that, she couldn’t be at home and she lost her husband and four girls. She’s obviously not over it. The first person she killed during the apocalypse was her boss – so that she could survive. Paula views herself as still herself but better – even though it’s pretty clear that Paula has lost a lot of her humanity.

Carol says Paula will die if they don’t work stuff out. Paula asks if Carol is going to kill her. Carol says ‘I hope not’.

Paula says they’ll make the trade. The tells Rick on the walkie-talkie to go to the place where there’s a sign that says ‘God is dead’. There’s good visibility there. Paula is strategizing, and comes to the conclusion that Rick is probably going to kill them. Carol says that Rick is a man of his word, and wouldn’t do that.

Paula and Molls leave Carol alone with the probably now dead Donnie. They have to kill a couple of walkers first to get out. Carol is out! She sees Molls kill walkers. Carol is now with Maggie.  She helps to unbind Maggie.

Carol just wants to go, but Maggie wants to kill them – they need to ‘finish it all’. They go back to Donnie, who looks dead.  ‘He’s turning’ says Maggie. Maggie says they need a gun. I think she tied him up or tied him to something.

Molls goes into the room with Dannie. Maggie comes up behind her and kills her – rather ragefully. Maybe it’s hormones?

Then they close the door and leave.

Paula comes in and sees that they are gone. She’s shocked and angry. She gets her gun ready to shoot.

Carol and Maggie encounter a group of walkers blocking their way, kind of a barrier to keep Carol and Maggie inside. Maggie starts killing, but Paula comes in shooting.

Carol tells Maggie to run and tells Paula to get out. Carol tells Paula to run and Maggie tells Carol to shoot Paula. Maggie and Chelle fight. She cuts Maggie and Carol shoots Chelle in the head. Maggie and Carol get ready to escape again and encounter Paula by the walkers. Paula gets up, and Carol has the gun aimed at her. Again Paula asks Carol what she’s afraid of. Carol comes closer with her gun. Carol says she was afraid of this (moment). Paula attacks her and they fight. Maggie doesn’t do anything to help Carol.

Paula gets impaled by a walker who was impaled and a walker eats her face off.

Saviors walkie-talkie in and Carol shakily responds to them telling them where to meet. Carol tells Maggie she’s killed two more people (that she’ll have to add to her kill journal) and Maggie tells her not to think about it. Carol is definitely thinking about it. She has not lost her humanity yet.

They’re still inside and people are coming by. Why is Carol lighting a cigarette? Ah, so, so she can set the Saviors inside the room on fire!  Carol doesn’t look happy about this turn of events, but she does it anyway.

Carol and Maggie walk away from the burning room. They go past the walker wall again and Maggie kills walkers, as does Carol. They go outside and meet up with their own group. Maggie runs to Glenn, and Carol runs to Daryl.  Maggie and Carol are upset. Maggie tells Glenn she can’t do this anymore. Daryl asks Carol if she’s good, and she says no. Daryl hugs her. Their hostage, Primo is dazed – probably that Rick’s group took out their entire outpost. He tells Rick and co that he found Daryl’s bike. Rick wants to know where Negan is. Primo says nothing and then he says that he’s Negan.

Rick blows Primo away. He apologizes first though. Carol holds onto the rosary so tightly that blood drips from her hand.
